Alberto “Beto” Perez Duarte, 78, passed away on September 26, 2026. He was a
beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Beto was born in Brawley, CA on October 17,
1947, to the late Feliciano and Elena Duarte and was the 12th of 17 children.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Nellie Acuña,
Frances Raya, Maria Elena Mendibles, Feliciano Duarte, Leonardo Duarte, Sara Reyes,
Nicolas Duarte, Daniel Duarte, Catalina Duarte, and Eduardo Duarte.
Albert attended J.W. Oakley School, Barbara Worth, BUHS, IVC, and San Diego State.
He worked for Livingston Farms, Campesinos Unidos, and Calexico School District.
Albert will be remembered by his family and friends as a “Gentle Giant”. He was
warm, kind, soft spoken, with a witty and lighthearted sense of humor. He was a
history buff and loved all kinds of music, especially “Oldies”, and classic movies and
cartoons. He was an avid gardener and tended to his small garden with love and
patience. As a sports lover, the Dodgers and USC were on top of his list. Cooking
was a passion of his and everyone wanted to know his “secret recipe” for his famous
“barbacoa” ingredients, which never was revealed.
Albert loved his family deeply. He had a strong faith and trust in God and continuously
asked for prayer from his family, and he responded to their prayer requests as well.
Albert is survived by his wife, Maria Corrall; his brothers and their spouses, Raul and
Esther Duarte, George and Ruth Duarte, and Arthur and Karla Duarte, all of Brawley.
His sisters and their spouses, Lina Duarte of Brawley, Sandra and Ruben Perez of
Mission Viejo, CA, Susan and Joe Lucio of Brawley. Sisters in law, Obdulia Duarte,
Conchita Duarte, Lydia Duarte, all of Brawley; Phyllis Duarte of Mountain View, CA,
and Sandy Duarte of Seattle, WA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Our brother, Albert, will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
