Elsa Noriega Obituary (1936 - 2024)

Elsa Noriega April 6, 1936 ~ March 26, 2024 Elsa Noriega Jimenez, whose laughter was as full-bodied as her famous chile colorado sauce, danced her way into the heavens on March 26, 2024. Born on April 6, 1936, in the picturesque town of Tayoltita, Durango, Elsa's zest for life was as spicy and vibrant as her homeland's cuisine. Elsa's life was a symphony of joyous melodies and delectable aromas. She often said that she graduated with honors from "La escuela de la vida," where she majored in resilience and minored in mischief. With a wooden spoon as her baton, she orchestrated a life filled with music and the clattering of pots and pans, which was her passion. "Musica todo el dia alegria!" she would sing, filling the house with her culinary concertos from dawn till dusk. She was the life of every party, and if you didn't find her at the stove, she was probably twirling around the living room, leading a conga line with a laugh that echoed through the walls of her El Centro home. Elsa believed that a day without dancing was a day wasted, and she lived every day to the fullest, embracing her loved ones with open arms and a warm, inviting kitchen. The matriarch of a brood that included Virgen, Guadalupe, Lydia, Elsa, Cristobal, Sonia, Rebeca, Margarita, and Yeniffer. Elsa was the centerpiece of a family that was as close-knit as the tortillas were to her famous enchiladas. Her children were the apples of her eye, and she was their guiding star, shining brightly even on the cloudiest of days. Elsa's legacy is a recipe book filled with laughter, a pinch of sass, and a heaping tablespoon of love. She leaves behind a family that is a testament to her boundless energy and nurturing spirit. Each of them carries a spark of her fiery passion and joy for life, ensuring that her spirit will continue to season their days with happiness and warmth. As Elsa takes her final bow on the stage of life, we imagine her waltzing into eternity with the same grace and gusto that she lived every day on earth. Her curtain call is met with a standing ovation, as those she leaves behind remember her not with tears, but with smiles as bright as the salsa on her famous tacos. Elsa Noriega Jimenez, the world is a little less flavorful without you, but heaven just got a whole lot spicier.
