In Loving Memory of Joy Deane Stamps Bishop
October 1, 1942 – October 11, 2026
Joy Deane Stamps Bishop, 84, of Brawley, CA passed away on October 11, 2026, just
before the rising sun, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and happiness that will
forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born in Brawley, California, on October 1, 1942, to proud parents Claude and Thula
Stamps, Joy was truly the embodiment of her name. She was a sweet, happy soul who
had a special way of finding the positive in everything. Her kindness extended to
everyone she met, and her warm spirit brought light and happiness to those around her.
Joy had a beautiful way of making life feel a little brighter simply by being herself.
Joy shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, John Edward
Bishop, the majority of that time being shared in their hometown of Brawley. Together,
they enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially Friday nights watching Brawley Wildcat
Football, going on adventure rides and making memories along the way. In retirement,
Joy found happiness in making a home in Prescott Valley, Arizona, where she
embraced her role as a homemaker and continued to fill her days with the things she
loved most.
She had a love for gardening and enjoyed walking for as long as she was able. Whether
tending to her garden, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with her husband and
family, Joy found beauty in the everyday moments that make life special. Her pups
Laycee and Belle were also very special to her.
Joy’s greatest gift was the love she gave so freely. She will be remembered for her
gentle heart, her cheerful outlook, and her ability to see the good in people and in life.
Her presence was a blessing, and the joy she brought to others will remain a lasting
part of her legacy.
Joy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John Edward Bishop; her sisters,
Claudella Benson and Queda Brown; and her children, Stacie Chandler (Norman), Todd
Machado (Claire), Micki Rodríguez (Paul), Erin García (Christian), and Silas Bishop.
She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and
nephews, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
Though her family and friends will deeply miss her, the love she shared and the
happiness she brought into the world will never be forgotten. The name Joy was more
than a name — it was who she was. Her life was a reminder to be kind, to look for the
good, and to appreciate the beauty in each day.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

A graveside service honoring Joy’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 30, 2026,
at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley, California.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever our Joy.
